Celebrating Twelve Years of Great Kids! It may seem hard to imagine, but it was twelve years ago this fall that Peg and Ted Hope founded Spring Street International School. They opened the doors with 28 middle school students and a belief that high expectations, individual attention, and an experiential curriculum could help produce extraordinary young people. One grade level was added each year, and the curriculum, faculty and facilities expanded proportionately. By the second year, the first international travel program took students to Central America. Two years later, the first Asia expedition set off. Today, the program integrate rigorous academics with character and skill-building experiences, from ropes courses and rock climbing, to service projects locally and in the developing world. The faculty has also grown and evolved. We now have 11 teachers, of whom two hold PhD’s, and four more hold Masters. They’ve taught on every continent of the world including Antarctica. Between them, they speak Spanish, German, French, Thai, Hindi, and Japanese. They can take you through AP Physics, Shakespeare, or Biotechnology – or rock climbing, geo-caching, winter survival training, and sea kayaking. What really makes Spring Street special, however, is our students. We have 69 students this year, in grades 6 through 12. They are a delightful blend of scholars, athletes, scientists, artists, musicians, and engineers. They’re thoughtful, playful, intense, creative, powerful, passionate, and dedicated. They’re the kind of young people to whom we will some day feel proud to turn over the keys to our companies, and the future of our country. Happy 12th Anniversary!!! Where Are They Now?
